Miláno (po taliansky Milano, v milánskom nárečí Milán) je druhé najväčšie mesto a hlavné ekonomické centrum Talianska. Je to hlavné mesto provincie Miláno. Nachádza sa na severe Talianska v oblasti Lombardia.
Všetky jeho najväčšie banky a najdôležitejšia burza v Taliansku robia z Milána obrovské ekonomické centrum. Miláno patrí k najbohatším mestám v Európskej únii. V Miláne možno vidieť aj umelecké pamiatky, ako sú napríklad Castello Sforzesco, Poslednú večeru od Leonarda da Vinci, Galériu Viktora Emanuela II., svetovo preslávené operné divadlo La Scala alebo sa iba prechádzať medzi obchodmi v módnej štvrti, kde majú svoje butiky preslávení návrhári. Samotné mesto (Comune di Milano) má 1 314 745 obyvateľov, počet obyvateľov Veľkého Milána (La Grande Milano), celej konurbácie je pribižne 7 400 000 obyvateľov.
Geografia a podnebie
Miláno sa nachádza na severnej časti Apeninského polostrova, v západnej čast oblasti Lombardia. Mesto leží v nižine, na sever od mesta sa nachádzajú Alpy, hranica so Švajčiarskom a mesto Lugano. Mestom pretekajú len malé rieky (Olona na západe, Lambro na východe a Seveso). V meste je aj systém prepojených kanálov – Naviglio.
Miláno má na malej rozlohe veľký počet obyvateľstva, takže má pomerne veľkú hustotu obyvateľstva.
Miláno má kontinentálne podnebie [1], ktoré je odlišné od podnebie v strednej a južnej časti talianska, pre ktorú je typické stredomorské podnebie. Zima v Miláne je obvykle vlhká a chladná a leto horúce a dáždivé. Priemerné teploty sú -2/+4 °C v januári a +17/+29 °C v júli. Sneženie bývalo typické medzi decembrom a februárom až do 40 cm ročne. V súčasnosti je to skôr ale neobvyklý jav. Vlhkosť býva pomerne vysoká počas celého roka, priemerné ročné zrážky sú okolo 1 000 mm. Môže sa tu vyskytnúť hmla, ale redukcia ryžových polí a znížovanie znečistenia vzduchu v okolí mesta spôsobujú menší výskyt hmlistého počasia.
Dejiny
Predpokladá sa, že zakladateľmi mesta sú Kelti okolo roku 600 pred Kr. Okolo roku 222 pred Kr. bolo mesto zahrnuté do Rímskej ríše a rimania mu dali meno Mediolanum. V 4. storočí, v čase biskupa Svätého Ambrózia a cisára Theodosia I. bolo Miláno hlavným mestom Západorímskej ríše a druhým najväčším mestom v Európe. Štatút hlavného mesta stratilo už v roku 402, keď sa novým hlavným mestom ríše stala Ravenna. Bolo to hlavne v dôsledku pohybu barbarských kmeňov, hlavne vizigótov. V roku 452 došlo k vpádu hunského kráľa Attilu a k úpadku mesta. V roku 569 sa mesto stalo súčasťou ríše Longobardov, byzantskí úradníci uprchli do Janova kvôli bezpečnosti. Longobardi z Milána vybudovali svoje hospodárske centrum, ktoré predčilo susedné mestá Pavia, či Monza. V 11. storočí dochádza k jeho ekonomickej a mocenskej expanzií. V roku 1167 vstúpilo do voľnej federácie združujúcej talianske mestské štáty pod názvom Lombardská liga. Vymanili sa spod vlády cisára a postupne ovládali mestá feudálne rody, Miláno sa stalo mestským štátom. Miláno preslávili rody Viscontiovcov aSforzovcov. Spolu s ostatným talianskymi mestami sa od 18. storočia stávali záujmom veľkých mocností Európy. V 18. storočí sa Miláno stalo jedno z hlavných centier hnutia Risorgimento. V roku 1859 sa vymanilo spod vlády rakúskych Habsburgovcov, stalo sa súčasťou Sardínskeho kráľovstvo, ktoré sa neskôr pretransformovalo na Talianske kráľovstvo.
V Miláne vzniklo Mussoliniho fašistické hnutie, tu však bol Mussolini aj potupne popravený.
